Stellar Death

Instrumental music at the edge of astronomy and consciousness, moving between post-metal force, cinematic scale, and deep ambient space.

The project

Scale without distance

Stellar Death was created by Scott Loose and Matt Kozar as a space for instrumental music built around specific astronomical and philosophical ideas. Ben Kelly has contributed bass across key releases.

The project draws from post-rock, post-metal, progressive metal, dark ambient music, and film scores. Each piece is designed as its own narrative, using texture, movement, and contrast in place of lyrics.

Selected listen

Sentient, Chapter 1

The first chapter of an ongoing exploration of consciousness within the universe. Its aggressive energy is tempered by ambient passages that suggest polarity, isolation, and self-reflection.

Bravemusic presents a new instrumental EP entitled Sentient (Chapter 1) by Washington, DC-based Stellar Death. This EP is the first part of a series of recordings which will ultimately culminate into a collection of songs based on a thematic exploration of consciousness within the universe. Sentient (Chapter 1) showcases an aggressive musical energy, but is tempered by more ambient/lush passages representing cosmic polarity and self-reflection. Stellar Death leverage a plethora of influences, from old school death metal, modern post-rock, and various cinematic soundtracks to create a unique fusion of music that focuses on astronomical and philosophical themes.
